A novel HLA-DRB1*09 allele, HLA-DRB1*090103, has been identified in a Guangdong Han person. Its sequence was confirmed by sequencing polymerase chain reaction products and clones. This allele differed by one nucleotide from HLA-DRB1*090102 at position 50(G-->C), which represents a silent mutation.
