Distal myopathy with rimmed vacuoles (DMRV) and hereditary inclusion body myopathy (hIBM) share similar clinical features, including onset in young adulthood with preferential involvement of the anterior compartment of the lower legs and sparing of the quadriceps femoris muscles.
