von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a multisystem inherited cancer syndrome with characteristic tumors and a known genetic basis. Patients with VHL develop, among other tumors, retinal capillary hemangiomas, central nervous system hemangioblastomas, renal clear cell carcinomas, and pheochromocytomas.
