Datronia caperata, a basidiomycete fungus, is one of the dominant polypore species found in neotropical mangrove forest fragments, where it is locally specialized on Laguncularia racemosa. We examined the genetic structure of D. caperata populations from four Panamanian mangrove forests using AFLP markers.
