Mature spermatozoa spontaneously take up foreign DNA molecules which can be delivered to embryos at fertilization. Recently we discovered an endogenous reverse transcriptase (RT) activity in mouse spermatozoa which can reverse-transcribe exogenous RNA molecules into cDNA copies.
