From February 2002, all the consecutive patients referring to the Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Turin, who were diagnosed as having acute HCV hepatitis were included in a prospective cohort study to evaluate if a 3-month course of Peg-Interferon alpha-2b (1.5 microg/kg once weekly) is effective to decrease the risk of progression to chronic disease.
