Erythrocytes of normotensive and hypertensive humans, as well as Sprague-Dawley, Wistar-Kyoto and spontaneously hypertensive rats, were prepared to have similar ionic compositions adequate for determining the activities of lithium-sodium (Li-Na) countertransport and sodium (Na) pump.
