Phot photoreceptors make up an important protein family regulating biological processes in response to blue light. They contain two light, oxygen, and voltage sensitive (LOV) domains and a serine/threonine kinase domain. Both LOV domains noncovalently bind a flavin mononucleotide (FMN).
