BACKGROUND: Frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17q21-22 (FTDP-17) is an autosomal dominant tauopathy manifested by a variable combination of personality changes, cognitive decline and hypokinetic-rigid movement disorder.
