FIP1L1-PDGFRalpha causes hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and is inhibited by the tyrosine kinase inhibitor imatinib (Gleevec). Imatinib is a potent inhibitor of ABL, ARG, PDGFRalpha, PDGFRbeta, and KIT and induces durable hematologic responses in HES patients.
