A novel anaerobic, thermophilic, CO-utilizing bacterium, strain 41(T), was isolated from a terrestrial hot vent on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Strain 41(T) was found to be a Gram-positive bacterium, its cells being short, straight, motile rods. Chains of three to five cells were often observed. The...
