Pancreatitis-associated gene mutations have been reported in patients with hereditary pancreatitis and idiopathic pancreatitis in the Caucasian population and involve the cationic trypsinogen gene, the pancreatic secretory trypsin inhibitor gene and the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene.
