The stay green mutant genotype d1d1d2d2 inhibits the breakdown of chloroplast components in senescing leaves of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.). Together with G (a gene that preserves chlorophyll in the seed coat) they may extend photosynthetic activity in some conditions.
