RbcS antisense DNA mutants of tobacco have reduced amounts of ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase oxygenase (Rubisco). We found that carotenoid and chlorophyll contents decrease in parallel as Rubisco is decreased, however, pigment levels are not significantly altered until Rubisco levels are reduced sharply.
