Pseudomonas sp. strain KC (= ATCC 55595 = DSM 7136) is a denitrifying aquifer isolate that produces and secretes pyridine-2,6-bis(thiocarboxylate) (PDTC), a chelating agent that fortuitously transforms carbon tetrachloride without producing chloroform.
