Low bone mineral density (BMD) and muscle weakness are major risk factors for postmenopausal osteoporotic fracture. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) reverses the menopausal decline in maximum voluntary force of the adductor pollicis and reduces serum angiotensin-I converting enzyme (ACE) levels.
