Yersinia enterocolitica O:8, biogroup (BG) IB, strain WA-C carries a high-pathogenicity island (HPI) including iron-repressible genes (irp1-9, fyuA) for biosynthesis and uptake of the siderophore yersiniabactin (Ybt).
