Lipodystrophy is characterized by altered partition of adipose tissue. Despite heterogeneous causes, which include genetic, autoimmune and drug-induced forms, lipodystrophy syndromes have similar metabolic attributes, including insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia and diabetes.
