We examined previously identified border disease virus (BDV) strains by using a newly proposed genotyping procedure based on palindromic nucleotide substitutions (PNS) in the 5'-untranslated region (UTR), and found 22 (41.5%) out of 53 strains of BDV in the nucleotide sequence databases are not of BDV.
