The expression of ORL1 receptor mRNA splice variants is determined in peripheral sensory and sympathetic ganglia and compared to mRNA expression for the three classic opioid receptor subtypes (mu, delta, and kappa) using the method of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.
