OBJECTIVE: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive hereditary disease which primarily affects non-Ashkenazi Jews, Armenians, Arabs, and Turks. The gene responsible for the disease (MEFV/FMF) has been recently identified.
