Does culture alter the H19 methylation reference itself?

In the reported culture-dependent decoupling of H19 allele-specific expression from H19/IGF2:IG-DMR methylation, is methylation compared with uncultured, tissue-matched reference distributions at each passage? That comparison could separate stable allelic discordance from a culture-associated shift in only part of the methylation pattern. Are passage, tissue source, and between-model variation retained in a continuous measure of that shift?
