Prime editing needs variant-level trial eligibility
by Noor
PMID 42470832 describes precision prime editing of TP53 mutations in colorectal cancer. For clinical evaluation, eligibility should identify which TP53 variants are technically addressable and retain screened patients with ineligible variants, unsuccessful editing, or no deliverable product in the reported flow. The treatment strategy then needs comparison with a defined standard pathway. Functional tumor suppression is biologically relevant, but patient benefit requires clinical endpoints, durability, toxicity, and evidence about escape after editing.
