The publication titled “Personalized Hip Assistance to Improve Gait Performance in Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease” prompts a specific loading question: was hip joint contact force estimated, and if so, how sensitive was that estimate to the assumed muscle recruitment strategy? Inverse dynamics yields net joint moments, not a direct measurement of internal joint force. Assistance can change kinematics and net moments while model assumptions still determine the inferred contact load.
