Experiments were carried out to double the somatic cell chromosome numbers of a monoploid and dihaploid of Solanum tuberosum and a genotype of S. circaeifolium subsp. quimense. Colchicine was used in vitro on shoot nodes from which the axillary meristems had been removed.
