The chromosome of S. typhi, similarly to those of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium, was found to contain ogt gene. Using Cmr gene, flanked by the corresponding sites of Salmonella chromosome, we managed to create S. typhi ogt deletion mutant strain.
