The tolQ, tolR, and tolA genes from Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO were cloned using degenerate oligonucleotide PCR primers designed based on conserved transmembrane regions of Escherichia coli TolQ and TolR and E. coli and Pseudomonas putida ExbB and ExbD.
