CFTR mRNA transcripts were analyzed from freshly isolated nasal epithelial cells and lymphocytes (six individuals) and from lymphocytes alone from 14 further individuals. In four of these 20 individuals alternative splicing was observed within the region coding for the first nucleotide binding fold.
