Fifty-six isolates of Fusarium oxysporum, including F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis and nonpathogenic strains, were chosen from a larger collection to represent diversity in vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs), mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) haplotype, geographic distribution, and virulence.
