The plant hormone auxin is directionally transported in plant tissues by the actions of the auxin transport proteins. PIN-FORMED (PIN) family proteins asymmetrically localize at the plasma membrane, and facilitate auxin efflux, thereby promoting cell-to-cell polar auxin transport.
