BACKGROUND: Onchocerca lupi is a zoonotic, vector-borne filarioid nematode that mainly infects wild and domestic canids in the Southwestern USA, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Clinical canine infections are associated with ocular disease, characterized by the presence of nodules and conjunctivitis.
