Pyruvate kinase deficiency (PKD) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease caused by mutations in the PKLR gene. To date, the clinical manifestations of PKD are heterogeneous, ranging from fetal anemia, neonatal jaundice, and severe chronic hemolytic anemia to fully compensated hemolytic anemia.
