BACKGROUND: X-linked agammaglobulinaemia (XLA), caused by mutations in BTK, is characterised by low or absent peripheral CD19 + B lymphocytes and agammaglobulinaemia. The mainstay of treatment consists of immunoglobulin replacement therapy (IgRT).
