Occult HBV infection (OBI) remains a potential threat for blood safety. The prevalence of OBI was investigated in a blood donation center of Chinese PLA General Hospital to improve HBV blood safety. 229446 samples from blood donors were screened by two different enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. 78 samples were HBV DNA positive among 212134 ELISA nonreactive donor samples.
