INTRODUCTION: Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a rare inherited disorder, caused by mutations in the alkaline phosphatase (ALPL) gene, which encodes for the tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNSALP) isoform of alkaline phosphatase (ALP).
