Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a disease that causes organ damage due to microvascular hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and microvascular platelet thrombosis. Streptococcus pneumoniae-associated TMA (spTMA) is a rare complication of invasive pneumococcal infection.
