KEY MESSAGE: A novel compact plant architecture mutant, cpa-2, was identified from EMS-induced mutagenesis. Bulked segregant analysis sequencing and map-based cloning revealed CsDWF1 encoding C-24 reductase enzyme as the candidate gene.
