To further explore the chemical space surrounding the "hydrophobic channel" of the NNRTI binding pocket (NNIBP), a new series of diarylpyrimidines (DAPYs) were designed and synthesized as potent HIV-1 non-nucleoside RT inhibitors (NNRTIs).
