Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase (PIP5K) produces phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2 ), a signaling phospholipid critical for various cellular processes in eukaryotes. The Arabidopsis thaliana genome encodes 11 PIP5K genes.
