Protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) reduction is the penultimate step of chlorophyll (Chl) biosynthesis, and is catalyzed by two evolutionarily unrelated enzymes: dark-operative Pchlide oxidoreductase (DPOR) and light-dependent Pchlide oxidoreductase (LPOR).
