BACKGROUND: Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis. The BRAF inhibitor vemurafenib is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for patients with ECD harboring a BRAF V600E mutation.
