We describe a new Italian family with 7 members affected by hereditary hyperferritinemia cataract syndrome (HHCS), an uncommon autosomal dominant disease caused by mutations of the iron-responsive element (IRE) of the ferritin light chain (FTL) gene determining its overexpression.
