BACKGROUND: Mutations in the AarF domain containing kinase 4 gene (ADCK4), one of the novel genes causing steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS), usually manifest as isolated adolescent-onset focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).
