BACKGROUND: Cytokines are suggested to play a role in periodontitis. OBJECTIVES: To determine and compare the levels of Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples amongst healthy individuals and those with chronic periodontitis.
