The antigenic phenotype of neonatal lymphoid cells isolated from umbilical cord blood was investigated using monoclonal antibodies and flow cytometry. Although the majority of cells expressed mature T or B cell differentiation antigens, small subpopulations of phenotypically immature lymphocytes were detected.
