BACKGROUND: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by mutations in either of two genes, TSC1 and TSC2. Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is caused by mutations in either PKD1 or PKD2.
