BACKGROUND: Pigs play a critical role in Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) transmission between mosquitos and humans. In 2009, lots of piglets developed symptom of viral encephalitis in a pig farm in Yunchen, Shanxi province. METHODS: Virus isolation was carried out in BHK-21 cells.
