Spectrin is the major molecular consituent of the red cell membrane skeleton. We have isolated overlapping human erythroid beta-spectrin cDNA clones and determined 6773 base pairs of contiguous nucleotide sequence. This includes the entire coding sequence of beta-spectrin.
