Generalized epilepsy with febrile seizures plus (GEFS+) is an epileptic syndrome inherited in autosomal dominant mode. Of all the identified causative GEFS+ genes, voltage-gated sodium channel alpha1 subunit gene (SCN1A) is the most clinically relevant one.
