An actinomycete strain, isolated from the marine sponge Axinella polypoides collected from Banyuls-sur-Mer, France, was characterized using a polyphasic approach. Based on its chemotaxonomic and morphological characteristics, strain Pol001(T) belongs to the genus Streptomyces.
